  1. Rooftop at the Mondrian

GO SHOPPING! The sales are even better than in London. I found a pair of Guiseppe Zanotti’s  (my favourite shoe designer) for $200!!!!

  2. It’s a MUST to go to the rooftop of the Mondrian Hotel! Great people, great views, fantastic music, but do eat before as they only serve popcorn! Best night I’ve add in a long time!
  3. DO NOT trust a guy called Bones… He hangs outside of nightclubs and pretends to be working for the clubs and offers to go in a different entrance so you can avoid waiting. You’ll end up in a different club completely and he’ll have disappeared with your money! Firstly, girls will NEVER pay to get into a club in NY….EVER!! Lesson very quickly learnt! I’LL FIND YOU BONES!
  4. Sunset over NY

DO NOT stay at The W in Lexington. The rooms are so incredibly tiny and the customer service so bad. It seems that NY runs out of hotel rooms so quick and always has 100% occupancy so some hotels don’t actually care if they cram you in like sardines. The best way to book accommodation in NY is AirBnB. Check out their  website! Great places to stay!

  5. Go have dinner at The Dead Rabbit. It is such a hidden treasure and it looks like a regular Irish pub in a dead street. You’ll see a mysterious man by the stairs looking like he is just waiting for someone, but he is actually the man who will decide if you are worthy or not to have the greatest experience in dining and cocktail slurping heaven.  At first he’ll look at you and there will be an uncomfortable silence for a few minutes, but persevere… It’s an incredible atmosphere and they only make cocktails from the 1700’s. The Dead Rabbit IS my favourite place so far this year!
  6. The Dead Rabbit! Doesn't look as exciting, but well worth it!

Go dance at Le Souk! It’s still happening even on a Sunday morning at 3am. Again the best time with local New Yorker’s.They were weird, funny, friendly, exciting and damn fine dancers! I felt like a proper gangsta especially when I tried to pull my non existing break dancing moves on the dance floor. Great time!  ;) …and they are all looking for Bones too! New Yorkers do pull together ;)

  7. Before dancing go have some dinner at Employees Only. It is filled with the friendliest people you’ll find in NY. The steak tartar is my favourite dish and incredibly yum. All staff wears pajamas and you do feel like you are an actual employee, especially when you have to walk through the kitchen to get to the ladies. You basically could cook your own meal if you want.
  8. Be weird! Anything goes in NY. What ever you want to wear it works. You are fashion!
  9. They do not have the 13th floor but room 666 exist? Yup, we stayed next to the devil for a few days in August! Again I do not recommend The W on Lexington!
  10. Not the best nights sleep I've had....

Not the best nights sleep I’ve had….

Go to have brunch at The Smith. They serve the best brunch and perfect coffees. Great atmosphere and so alive even in a hot August weekend.

  11. If you want a table at the Meridian Hotel by the window overlooking Central Park, you’ll need to slip a $50, otherwise it’s very unlikely.
  12. NO taxi driver knows where you are going! You need to give street names and be specific. They do not know where most restaurants are and you’ll be very lucky if some actually speaks English. Also do not try to take pictures as they disappear into the dashboard. They DO NOT want to be in any picture! Mmmm?
  13. A SpeakEasy party is a party hosted by homeowners in their homes and selling alcohol. I did not know this cause I live under a rock! It’s not legal to sell alcohol without a license, but it’s a big trend in NY and many wealthy homeowners throw them in their beautiful penthouses creating a fun night, meeting new people and also not splashing out on big bar bills.
  14. Employees Only!!!

    Employees Only!!!

Do not go to Bagatelle if you want a quiet dinner and a catch-up nor if you are sober at 10h00. It is the place to be at the moment but only if you are up for a wild one! You need to get there at 8 and by 10 when the curtains close you need to be well oiled and be ready to embrace the suits dancing on the tables and chairs. We got to the restaurant at 10h30 NOT ready for the smoke machines and what we were about to see. Food was fantastic though! Next time I know to go early!

  15. Do not walk with sandals! The steam coming from the sewers are so hot that it can burn your feet to pieces when you cross the streets and it catches your foot on the side.
  16. New York is so NOISY and does smell! Literally!
  17. Go to Reformation! I fell in love with their clothing designs. It’s simple and sexy with a great fit. Ideal for taller people. Love that store.
  18. Go use the loo at The Strandard Hotel. You’ll have the best view and the most relaxing time EVER ;)
  19. I’M IN LOVE WITH THE CITY AND ALL IT’S PEOPLE. Had a blast! Thank you! IMG_3403
